In the wake of the Los Angeles Lakers' decision to sign Dwight Howard to a non-guaranteed deal, a 2013 tweet from the eight-time All-Star has resurfaced.

Howard posted the said tweet a day after the Lakers were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. At that time, the responsibility of leading the Purple and Gold was put solely on his shoulders because Kobe Bryant suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

Unfortunately, Dwight couldn't handle the Spurs alone and LA ended up getting swept. To make things worse, he got ejected in Game 4 of that series, which also marked the end of his first stint with the franchise. Dwight eventually signed with the Houston Rockets the following summer.

Now, Howard has an opportunity to make it up to Lakers fans who felt betrayed when he left. Although he's expected to play a limited role for the team, it is worth noting that he can still put up double-doubles when healthy. He reportedly convinced LA that his back is fine and he's a changed man, though the team wants him to prove it on the court.

Once again, Dwight will be playing for a Lakers team with championship aspirations. Only this time, everyone involved wants this partnership to end up with a Larry O'Brien trophy in June.
