LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has reached the pinnacle of success on the basketball court a handful of times. But the 4-time NBA champion is winning just as much off the court as he is on it. King James became the first NBA player to reach billionaire status while still active and playing in the league.

That puts the Lakers star in a league of his own in the game of basketball, but now enters new territory joining the handful of billionaires from across the globe. But knowing LeBron James, he probably won't be staying at the bottom rung for long.

With the wealthiest of billionaires flexing their wealth and launching rockets into space with their own amassed fortunes, maybe LeBron James can get in on the race. Although he doesn't have the same level of unlimited funding as guys like Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, and Elon Musk, the Lakers star did just feature in the Space Jam franchise. That might count for something, right?

Jokes aside, it's certainly an impressive feat for LeBron James, who continues to show his versatility, whether it be through basketball, entertainment, or business. Hopefully his offseason successes translate to a winning year for his Lakers next season.
