Patrick Beverley's knack for overcoming long odds over his NBA journey apparently translates to the video game arena.
After the initial odds for the NBA 2K Players Tournament had Beverley as one of the longest shots to win the tourney — a no. 14 seed, due to his 78 overall rating in NBA 2K20 — the Los Angeles Clippers guard enters the quarterfinals as the +200 favorite to win the whole thing. Beverley is followed by Devin Booker at +275:

Beverley defeated No. 3 seed (with an inexplicable 87 rating) Hassan Whiteside in the first round on Friday, and enjoyably peppered his win with some characteristically ruthless smack talk. Beverley will next take on Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond (No. 6 seed, 85 rating), who took down DeMarcus Cousins in the opening round.
Booker topped Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., 85-75, in his opening matchup. The NBA All-Star guard played with the Milwaukee Bucks, while Porter Jr. opted for the Los Angeles Lakers:

Booker will next face Rui Hachimura of the Washington Wizards, who edged out Donovan Mitchell (playing as the Brooklyn Nets), 74-71, with Rui playing as the Lakers.
The quarterfinal round is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday on ESPN2. The semifinals and finals will both go down at some point on Saturday. Here's next round's matchups for the NBA 2K Players Tournament:
