The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly have interest in Denver Nuggets guard Malik Beasley ahead of the NBA's Feb. 6 trade deadline, according to reports.

Any pursuit the Timberwolves have right now is secondary to that of Golden State Warriors All-Star D'Angelo Russell:

Beasley will become a restricted free agent after this season once the Nuggets, or his new team, offers him a qualifying offer worth $3,895,424.

In 40 games this season for the Nuggets, Beasley is averaging 7.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He’s shooting 39.2 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 94.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Beasley is making $2.7 million this season. The Nuggets tried to re-sign him before the rookie-scale deadline, but a deal wasn’t able to be reached. Beasley will likely receive some lucrative offer sheets in the summer once his restricted free agency begins.

The Timberwolves are desperate to get more talent around All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns. Minnesota is currently on a 12-game losing streak. They are in 14th place in the NBA's Western Conference and probably won't make the playoffs for the second straight season barring some miracle happening.

The Nuggets, meanwhile, are cruising at the moment. They are in third place in the West and could stand pat at the deadline since their teams looks pretty well put together from top to bottom.
