Former Kansas football quarterback Jalon Daniels is talking about his career with the Jayhawks, ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Daniels had great success in Lawrence, helping lead Kansas back to national prominence.

The quarterback is now revealing who he thinks is the toughest player he ever faced in college. That honor goes to Texas Tech pass rusher David Bailey.

“He’s that good. 100 percent. Probably one of the quickest and shiftiest DE’s that I’ve had to go against,” Daniels said, per college football reporter Jordan Schultz.

Daniels finished his Kansas career with 9,282 passing yards and 67 touchdown passes. He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, and has been meeting with pro teams.

Bailey played one season at Texas Tech, in 2025. He recorded 14.5 sacks, and posted 52 total tackles. He helped lead Texas Tech to the College Football Playoff, as the Red Raiders won the Big 12 championship.

“No gloves, he might have his wrists taped. No sleeves, no nothing. He just goes out there and playing football,” Daniels added about Bailey.

Daniels is now moving on from Kansas, due to his exhausted college eligibility. The quarterback met recently with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, per NBC Sports. The former Kansas quarterback, who is considered a dual-threat, has played in a lot of football games.

“He missed time with injuries over the course of that time, but started every game in his final two seasons. He threw for 4,985 yards, 36 touchdowns and 19 interceptions while running for 843 yards and 10 touchdowns the last two years,” NBC reported.

Kansas finished the 2025 season with a 5-7 record.
