Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant didn't hold back in his response to Charles Barkley, who continues to question his legacy and criticize his championship wins with the Golden State Warriors.

On Monday, Barkley said on ESPN's Get Up that in order for Durant to get the respect of old heads like him, he needs to be win the championship as “the guy.” The NBA legend then went on to reiterate his bus driver take, highlighting how KD merely joined the ride on his way to two titles with the Warriors.

While CJ McCollum has since defended Durant and emphasized that Barkley is wrong with his “bus driver” take, it didn't stop Durant from responding on his own. The Nets forward called Chuck's analogy “terrible” and suggested that the icon is just jealous because they are making more money now.

“All this shit is nasty, another terrible analogy from a hatin' old head that can’t accept that we making more bread than them. It’s just timing Chucky, don’t hate the playa,” Durant wrote on Twitter.

Sure enough, Charles Barkley made a sound argument about Kevin Durant and his legacy. He's also not alone in that sentiment, especially after the Warriors won their fourth title in eight years and second without the scoring juggernaut.

Nonetheless, it is also unfair to the Nets star to make such claims. After all, truth be told, it's unlikely the Warriors would win their two other championships without Durant.

If Durant wants to shut down his haters, he'll definitely benefit from winning a championship with the Nets. However, he has nothing to prove since his two Finals MVPs already speak for themselves.
