In spite of all the issues that the Brooklyn Nets have had to deal with through the first quarter of the season, this team still owns the best record in the Eastern Conference. Kevin Durant has done brilliantly to carry his team to a highly impressive 21-9 record, but at this point, it sounds like they might lose one of their key players towards the trade deadline.

With how well the Nets have been doing this year, it isn't surprising that opposing teams have kept tabs on some of their players. One such team is the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to Cavs insider Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, the Cavs have included Nets sharpshooter Joe Harris on their shortlist of potential trade targets:

“Caris LeVert is a name to watch there. I think if the Brooklyn Nets decide that they want to make some changes, Joe Harris is somebody the Cavaliers would be very interested in,” Fedor said in a recent episode of USA TODAY Sports' HoopsHype podcast with Michael Scotto. “Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic fits the bill as well.”

Caris LeVert of the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic veteran Terrence Ross are two other players potentially on the Cavs' radar, but the name that stands out here is that of Joe Harris. The 30-year-old Nets wing is by no means a star, but he has established himself as a key player in Brooklyn's rotation.

Harris is currently sidelined after undergoing ankle surgery and is without a timetable to return. However, Kevin Durant and Co. are definitely looking forward to getting their starting small forward back as soon as possible.

KD can use all the help he can get right now, so losing Harris prior to February's trade deadline could be a big blow for the squad. Then again, the Nets should get one or two pieces back should they decide to deal Harris, and you can be sure that Brooklyn will only agree to a potential deal if it's in line with the objective of winning an NBA championship.
