The Las Vegas Raiders have been in recent trade rumor discussions surrounding quarterbacks Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota. However, it appears Carr will be leaving the rumor mill as it's been reported by Adam Caplan that, “Carr may wind up getting his contract extended, that's the belief around the league. They do not want to trade him, that's a fact.”

Derek Carr was a decent quarterback for the Raiders in 2020, throwing for 4,103 yards, and 27 touchdowns. He proved to be a reliable starter, as the Las Vegas offense was the least of the franchise's worries.

As for his efforts, it sounds like Carr will be receiving a nice payday soon. This muddles the future of Marcus Mariota however. The former Tennessee Titan ignited a spark in his career stepping in and playing a full game after Carr sat out due to injury. There seems to be some interest in Mariota across the league, but not to the extent of Derek Carr.

The Indianapolis Colts were apparently interested in Carr, before reaching a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles for Carson Wentz. Much has changed for Derek Carr from a year ago, as Caplan also claims, “Last year around this time, he was 100% available.”

It's interesting to see how the Colts were in pursuit of Carr. They're a solid playoff-caliber football team who is a quarterback away from becoming a threat. They obviously believed Carr could be someone to potentially lead them to a Super Bowl.

Instead, the Raiders seem content bringing back Carr for multiple years, while Indianapolis seems happy with Carson Wentz. It's still up in the air for Mariota however, as there is a possibility Jon Gruden trades him to another franchise this offseason.

Look for Derek Carr to do about the same as last year, as he's playing in an offense designed for him to succeed.
