Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence dealt with an injury scare during the Jaguars' shocking 9-6 win over the Buffalo Bills. Lawrence suffered an ankle injury and was helped to the locker room, but he wound up returning to the game and doesn't seem to have suffered a serious injury.

NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reports Lawrence's injury is a “low-ankle sprain” that will keep him limited during the week. There doesn't seem to be any structural issues, though, and the Jaguars rookie will receive treatment so he can get back on the field as soon as possible. This seems to be a best-case scenario given what the injury looked like in real time.

Lawrence didn't play particularly well against the Bills, completing just 15 out of 26 passes for 118 yards. However, he didn't turn the ball over, and that played a big factor in Jacksonville pulling off the shocking win. The Jaguars shockingly shut down Josh Allen and the explosive Bills offense, becoming the first team to keep them out of the end zone this season.

Jacksonville is now 2-6 on the season with a Week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts upcoming. It seems there's a chance Lawrence could miss that game, but if the ankle responds well to treatment, perhaps he'll be good to go.

It has been a rather quiet rookie campaign for Lawrence, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He's completing under 60% of his passes and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, giving him a quarterback rating of 73.6. There have been plenty of problems with the Jaguars, of course, so nobody should be giving up on the promising young quarterback yet.
