The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ has come to an end this week. After going through the wire to rescue a young Princess Leia Organa from the clutches of Reva and the Empire, the former Jedi Master must race back to Tatooine to save another child integral to returning balance to the Force, and the galaxy itself. Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6 ending explained
After the events of episode five, the series finale starts in Tatooine with Reva pursuing the lead she learned from Bail Organa's message. It's revealed that she's looking for Owen Lars.
From there, the episode shifts to Darth Vader's star destroyer chasing Obi-Wan inside the rebel freighter. Roken then tells the Jedi that their ship's motivator is shot and they won't be able to make it to their destination.
Back on Tatooine, Owen and Luke Skywalker enter a shop to look for speeder parts. Someone then tells the farmer about Reva looking for him.
Obi-Wan addresses the people inside the ship that he will stall Vader by allowing himself to be captured. Leia is distraught as the Jedi asks Haja Estree to bring the princess home. Meanwhile, Owen tells Beru about Reva and they need to hide Luke from the inquisitor. She disagrees and tells his husband that they'll take the fight to her.
Obi-Wan approaches a frustrated Leia and tells her that she's going to go home. He gives her an empty holster and tells the princess that she won't always be a young girl. Leia tells the Jedi to come back, something to which he says yes.
From there, Roken implores the Jedi to stay. Kenobi declines and tells the rebel to continue leading people. He takes the escape craft, which captures the attention of Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor. The imperial ship then focuses its attention on the Jedi. Meanwhile, as night falls, Owen and Beru lead Luke inside a part of their home to hide.
Obi-Wan pilots the ship to an uninhabited planet, an act that moves Vader to chase him on his own. As he prepares, the Jedi finds Lola inside his robe. He leaves it inside the ship as he waits for the Sith Lord to arrive. They face off, ignite their lightsabers, and duel each other.
After sparring with his former master, Vader opens the ground using the Force and Obi-Wan falls inside. He then buries Kenobi using large rocks, leaving him to die. Instead, Kenobi uses the Force to stop the rocks from crushing him. He remembers Leia and succeeds in pushing the rocks away from him. Vader senses his escape as the pair spar off once again. This time, though, Kenobi is more ferocious by lifting countless rocks to strike the Dark Lord of the Sith.
The Jedi Master then incapacitated Vader's chest unit, an act that greatly weakens him. He uses this opening to strike his helmet, exposing Anakin's burned face to his former master. Obi-Wan calls out to his former apprentice, besieged with grief over what he has become. Obi-Wan apologizes to Anakin for his failure to save him.
Vader, for his part, tells Obi-Wan that he didn't destroy Anakin. He himself did that, the Sith Lord claims. At that point, Obi-Wan tells him that his friend is truly dead and leaves him.
In another part of the galaxy, Reva steps inside the Lars compound and engages Owen and Beru. After injuring him, the inquisitor finds Beru giving Luke time to escape. The young boy runs to the desert as Reva is on his trail. The Third Sister manages to find Luke, an act that caught the attention of Obi-Wan from afar.
And just as she was about to kill the young Skywalker, Obi-Wan arrives on Tatooine to see Owen and Beur looking for Luke. They then see Reva carrying Luke, who appears to be unconscious.
Stricken with regret, Reva tells Kenobi that she couldn't kill the young boy. He tells her that she hasn't become like Vader and she now has the freedom to become whoever she chooses. With tears in her eyes, she takes out her lightsaber and throws it away, a move that sets her free from the Dark Side.
Over in Mustafar, Darth Vader converses with Emperor Palpatine and tells him that he will find Obi-Wan. Palpatine then tells him that his obsession with Kenobi might be his undoing. Vader replies that he only serves him.
In Alderaan, Leia is seen preparing to accompany her parents to welcome Obi-Wan. The Jedi arrives, along with Lola. Both Bail and Breha thank Kenobi for his service. After conversing with her parents, Obi-Wan approaches Leia and tells her several qualities about her true parents. She hugs the Jedi and bids her goodbye.
Back in his cave, Obi-Wan finds the toy ship he was about to give Luke at the series' start. He packs up all of his belongings and proceeds to the Lars' farm. The Jedi tells the farmer to take good care of Luke. And as he's walking away, Owen asks him if he wants to meet the boy. Obi-Wan approaches Luke while holding his present and delivers his iconic “Hello there” line.
After their meeting, Obi-Wan meets the Force ghost of Qui-Gonn Jinn in the desert. His former master then calls him and tells the Jedi that they have a lot of work to do.
What just happened? An Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6 recap
The final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi resolves most plot points that were generated at the start of this series. Darth Vader finally faced his old master, Reva found her redemption, Leia is rescued from the Empire, and Kenobi has gained the trust of Owen.
The ending also brings the Kenobi closer to Alec Guinness' version in the original trilogy as the whole series enriches the time between Episodes 3 and 4. The cherry on top, of course, is Liam Neeson's surprise cameo in the end as it implies that he will be training Obi-Wan to become a Force Ghost like him.
With the series ending, fans are hopeful that a second season would be given the green light by Disney. In any case, Obi-Wan Kenobi's first foray into streaming has definitely gained a lot of traction among Star Wars fans.
