Recently acquired New England Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu expressed a desire for former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski to return to the team after recent reports indicated the three-time Super Bowl champion was mulling coming out of early retirement.

Per the Providence Journal's Mark Daniels on Twitter:

“I don’t know. If he does, I would love it. Believe that. If he does, I would love it. Just got to go about it day by day and just do my part. Come, man, come.”

The 30-year-old tight end Gronkowski, a five-time Pro-Bowler, ended his illustrious, nine-year career, all with New England. He announced his retirement in March of 2019, and in August of this year, Gronkowski opened up to advocating for Cannabidiol oil to be implemented by the NFL (it's currently a banned substance) in order to reduce pain felt by the athletes in the contact sport.

Until the league stops banning CBD oil, a Gronkowski return is unlikely, however.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft recently mentioned hoping for a playoff return from the star tight end, who would spend the final month of the season training and getting into NFL-ready shape, but Gronkowski shot down a return this season or postseason.

Earlier, future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady provided levity in Gronk's absence, tweeting “reunited and it feels so good,” while responding to his ex-teammate.

Ten days ago, however, Gronkowski spoke to the Canadian press and mentioned he has yet to think about a comeback.

So it doesn't look like the star tight end is returning any time soon—for the Patriots or any NFL franchise.
