The Philadelphia Eagles finished the regular season 2nd in the NFC East, had a winning record of 9-8 and even had a short playoff run. Despite the unlikely success from the team in its first official rebuilding year, there are questions about the immediate future. Just in the early weeks of the Eagles' offseason, lots of question marks and potential trades have come up. Will Jason Kelce retire before the beginning of the 2022 season? Does Jalen Hurts have enough potential to stick with him as the QB1?

It isn't easy being a quarterback in Philadelphia, just ask Carson Wentz. He was tied up on the wrong side of two different quarterback controversies, including one with Nick Foles and Jalen Hurts. Foles came in for Wentz after he suffered an injury late in the season and ultimately led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl Championship in franchise history. Hurts got the nod his rookie season as relief for Wentz, who wasn't performing up to expectations. This ultimately gave him the starting position he is in now.

This season, Hurts avoided a potential quarterback controversy with backup Gardner Minshew. He suffered an ankle injury late in the season, missed a game because of it, and wasn't himself the rest of the season. Luckily, he did have surgery to correct the injury early on in the offseason and should be ready to go for Eagles Training Camp.

Reports from the Eagles front office and head coach Nick Sirianni made Philadelphia fans believe he will be back for his second full season as the starter. General manager Howie Roseman appreciated Hurts' performance this season, and Sirianni said there are no secrets between Hurts and the franchise when it comes to his spot on the roster.

“Jalen knows where he stands with us. He knows he's our quarterback…there's no secret there. He knows he's our guy,” Sirianni said shortly after the Eagles' season ended, quote courtesy of Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice.

Right now, Deshaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, and Russell Wilson are the most talented quarterbacks who could be finding work in new cities this offseason. Despite reports from the Eagles that Hurts is “their guy,” trade rumors are circulating regarding Hurts and these top quarterbacks.

The most probable and most talked about trade? Hurts and a few draft picks for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

This rumor stems back to November. Immediately following the trade deadline, ESPN insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen cohosted a podcast, which highlighted potential offseason trades. One of those trades included getting Wilson to Philadelphia.

Here is what the NFL insiders had to say about the topic, quotes from the podcast courtesy of NBC Philadelphia.

“The Eagles could have three Top 20 first-round picks. Nobody would have more ammunition to go get a quarterback than the Philadelphia Eagles. Jalen Hurts, to date, I don't think has convinced them that he's the guy, right? So Russell Wilson in Philly. Can you see that, Mort,” Schefter asked his cohost.

“Yes, I can…Russell Wilson is — we believe — a future Hall of Famer, and still in his prime. If you have that chance to get that type of player, you get that type of player.”

This was months ago, and the Eagles openly said that Hurts has proven that “he's the guy” since then. However, local Philadelphia news outlets continue to entertain the idea of a trade.
