Everyone in the baseball world knew it was going to come down to either Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles or Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals for MLB’s top prospect for 2022. However, it ended up being the exciting young shortstop, Witt Jr., who was given the honor with Rutschman listed at number two. And Witt. Jr is already displaying why he was named MLB’s top prospect, as he crushed an absolute bomb in a recent Spring Training game vs. the Atheltics.

The pitch was delivered by RHP Austin Pruitt. He left a pitch over the middle-in part of the plate and it stayed up in the zone. The old adage in baseball is that “good hitters don’t miss good pitches” and Witt Jr. certainly took that to heart on his massive swing. The ball not only cleared the fence by plenty, but it just missed hitting the scoreboard in deep left-center field.

ESPN’s Bill Riley took to Twitter to share his excitement for Witt Jr.’s future.

“Not gonna lie my excitement about the at start of the Bobby Witt Jr era is irrationally high..”

Popular baseball media outlet, Jomboy Media, posted the video along with a caption that reads:

“MLB’s #1 prospect Bobby Witt Jr. with a home run that went WAY over the fence”

There is no question that Witt Jr. has the tools to be a star in the MLB. He is a premier defender at a crucial position who offers power and speed.

This home run is a sign of many more to come for the Kansas City Royals' future superstar.
