Shin Megami Tensei V has just sold 800,000 copies since its launch, Atlus announced. This makes the Nintendo Switch exclusive title the fastest-selling Shin Megami title ever.
In a New Year’s Day open letter published through Famitsu, Atlus announced Shin Megami Tensei V‘s sales milestone, all the while thanking their fans for their continued support. The letter reads, as translated by PersonalCentral:
“Happy New Year! In November 2021, “Shin Megami Tensei V” was simultaneously worldwide, and it got off to a good start, selling over 800k copies in total. Thank you very much for your support. 2022 will start with the remastered version of P4U2 (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) in March and the release of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for the Nintendo Switch in April.
We are also preparing a surprise new title that has not yet been announced. Also, the 25th anniversary of “Persona,” which started last year, will enter a new phase. Please look forward to it!”
As mentioned above, Atlus was also keen on teasing a brand-new title coming this year which it claims will surprise fans. Given that this year is the 25th year anniversary of the Persona series, it’s safe to assume that this game will be a new game related to the Persona franchise. What could this be? Our bet is on a Persona 3 Remake on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One that brings together the best parts of Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable. Or maybe Shin Megami Tensei V on PS5 and Xbox Series X?
