The Philadelphia 76ers inked All-Star center Joel Embiid to a massive extension worth $196 million. With the deal, Embiid is staying in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future as they do whatever it takes to get an NBA title to the Sixers organization.

Embiid had a perfect reaction on Twitter after the news of the deal was released, and it's safe to say he is more than thrilled to be in Philly until at least the 2026-2027 season.

Embiid saying he wants to “eventually retire here” has to have Sixers fans going bonkers. Since coming to the league, he's been dynamic, although it took some time as he battled injuries early in his career. This past season, the Sixers finished as the top seed in the Eastern Conference and Embiid was the NBA MVP runner-up to Nikola Jokic.

Embiid finished the year with 28.5 points per game to go with 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks to lead the Sixers. With the apparent departure of Ben Simmons in the works, Embiid will need to take another step and find a way to get the Sixers over the hump in the dangerous East.

So, Embiid got paid, big time, and he should be a Sixer for a long, long time. Trust the process, indeed.
