BIOGRAPHY

Magic Johnson is a former Los Angeles Lakers great who is currently retired.

Born on August 14, 1959, during his playing career he was listed at 6' 9" and weighs 215 lbs.

After high school, Johnson committed to play for the Michigan State Spartans. While in college, alongside Larry Bird, Magic Johnson is largely credited for putting basketball on the map. It wasn’t until the NBA, however, where he began to take the nation over by storm, becoming a household name almost immediately.

After being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Draft, Johnson would go on to win numerous NBA MVPs, championships and other individual awards.

Often used as the guy “right outside of Michael Jordan” as the greatest basketball player ever, Magic Johnson was clearly ahead of his time. Not only was he a 6’9” point guard with all-time great vision, but if the Lakers needed it, Johnson would slide down to play center. Moreover, he’d often do it well.

Off the floor, Johnson is known for his chain of movie theaters, owning part of the Los Angeles Dodgers, a brief stint as the Lakers head coach and head operations, and numerous other business accomplishments.

During his NBA career, he played all of his 14 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.
