Is Chris Paul making a case for MVP? The 35-year-old point guard has led the Phoenix Suns to the top of the the Western Conference, which has raised the question of whether he should be in the MVP conversation. His teammate Mikal Bridges certainly thinks so.

Mikal Bridges brought up the fact that Chris Paul led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the playoffs last season. The said OKC team had a slim to zero chance of making the playoffs at the start of the season, but Paul defied the odds.

It's no doubt that he greatly impacts every team he goes to, which is certainly enough reason for him to be in the Top 5 or 10 of the MVP debate. However, given the great plays of other contenders in the league such as Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, Paul may be a bit behind them in the race.

While Paul is one of the most impactful players in the league, that doesn't mean the other candidates aren't. Jokic is the frontrunner to win the MVP award, as he is averaging 26.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. Paul's impact is never in doubt, but the Joker is impacting the Denver Nuggets in a similar way with better numbers.

Mikal Bridges is right, though: credit should definitely be given to CP3, especially since no one expected the Suns to be at the top of the ultra-competitive Western Conference that features stacked Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers teams.
