Mikal Bridges went viral on Twitter for no apparent reason other than Phoenix Suns fans loving having him on their team.

Thousands” of tweets simply saying “Mikal Bridges” were posted on Monday night, and the Suns' official Twitter account joined the fun on Tuesday morning.

Bridges himself responded with utter confusion. He was met with a flood of complimentary tweets and well-wishes in the replies.

The 23-year-old has been a key bench piece for the Suns this year. Mikal Bridges does not accrue a ton of offensive output (just 6.5 field goals per game), but he is pretty efficient and a tireless worker on the defensive end of the floor.

Bridges entered Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers averaging 1.4 steal and 0.6 block per game. He has tremendous versatility as a guy who can guard multiple positions, which is pretty imperative given the Suns' lack a lot of quality individual defenders.

The former Villanova star has taken his play to the next level in Orlando. Bridges has scored in double figures in four of Phoenix's first six games, including an 18-point, six-rebound outing in a blowout win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

Suns fans have every reason to feel overjoyed after beginning the restart with a 6-0 record. Phoenix has climbed into the thick of the playoff race in the Western Conference, with a legitimate chance to reach a play-in series.

In any case, it is clear the fans love Bridges, even if he had no idea why his name was trending.
