Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards could've had the first game-winning shot of his young career against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Lady Luck was nowhere near him.

Edwards couldn't believe that the ball popped in and out of the cylinder. Could it be the unluckiest shot in basketball? The slow-motion replay shows that the ball was already literally inside the ring before it decided otherwise.

As bad luck would have it, the Timberwolves would go on to lose the game in overtime, 132-128. Edwards, the first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, finished with eight points, five rebounds, and four assists. Malik Beasley led the team with 31 points, followed by Karl-Anthony Towns who had 30 points and 10 rebounds.

For the Pacers, Domantas Sabonis had a monster triple-double with 36 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. Malcolm Brogdon also had a huge game with 32 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

Edwards' botched game-winner is not a welcome turn of events. After all, he was recently showered with praises by the likes of Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. Both NBA legends are in awe of the 19-year-old's skill, with Wade even saying that Anthony Edwards may even surpass his achievements.

But as the adage goes, you can't really have it all. Better luck next time.
