Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has taken his game to another level the past week, posting some historic stat lines as he tries to put his team on his back. Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, Towns recorded 28 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and five blocks, making him the second player since 1973-74 to record consecutive games with at least 25 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it four times:

Previously, Towns put up 34 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks in a 113-104 win over the Miami Heat on Sunday. Unfortunately, Towns' efforts were for naught against the Pelicans, as Minnesota suffered a 123-114 defeat. The Timberwolves also recently lost 123-120 to the Atlanta Hawks despite 31 points, 19 rebounds, five assists and three blocks on Friday.

While Towns has really found his game again after the Jimmy Butler trade, Minnesota is meandering around outside the playoff picture. The loss to the Pelicans dropped the Timberwolves to 17-20 on the season, which is just a half-game ahead of New Orleans for the second-worst record in the Western Conference.

Karl-Anthony Towns is going to need more help if Minnesota is going to make a run and get back into the playoff picture. The 23-year-old is averaging 21.7 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 33.7 minutes per game. He's shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 38.8 percent on 3-pointers.
