Karl-Anthony Towns was just as humiliated as the rest of his teammates after the Minnesota Timberwolves got smoked out of the Wells Fargo Center by the Philadelphia 76ers 149-107, ruining any hope of dealing the first blow in the Jimmy Butler Bowl.

Towns had a no-show effort, scoring only 13 points — his lowest point total in a game since Butler was traded — and pulling down a career-low three rebounds (only a game after ensnaring a career-best 27 boards against the New Orleans Pelicans)

“That’s mostly how you get your ass kicked in the NBA. And that’s what we did,” said Towns, according to Dane Moore of Zone Coverage.

“They scored close to 150 points; it’s more than just communication. It was us. Coach got a great game plan, gave us something great to work with. We just didn’t lock in and care at all.”

The Sixers got off to two straight 40-plus-point quarters to boast a 25-point lead at the half, already running the Timberwolves out of the building.

Minnesota shot a putrid 38.9 percent from the field, while Philadelphia shot a whisker shy of 20 percentage points higher than them, including a devastating 21-of-43 from beyond the arc, ultimately gaining a 39-point advantage merely on 3-pointers made.

The Wolves have now split four games since Ryan Saunders was appointed as the interim head coach of the team, now facing a tough San Antonio Spurs team, but only to come back to two games against the lowly Phoenix Suns, one against the Lakers, a home-and-away against the Jazz and a tilt against Memphis to close out the month.
