The Minnesota Vikings finished regular season play with a 31-17 home win over the Chicago Bears. Now, as the Vikings look ahead to the upcoming offseason, there may be one dilemma that the team could end up addressing.

Cousins has a mere one more season remaining on his current contract with the Vikings. He is due for a $35 million base salary and overall, he is set to hold a $45 million cap number.

Cousins has been in the rumor mill over the past months in regard to a possible move away from the Vikings. But as it stands, he is set to be under center for Minnesota in the 2022 campaign.

Following the Vikings’ win over the Bears, second-year wide receiver Justin Jefferson was asked whether he would like to see Cousins stay put with the team. The former LSU star did not provide a firm answer on this dilemma, but he did offer his support to the veteran quarterback.

“Our relationship has been growing ever since I stepped in the building last year,” Jefferson said. “Things ain't always perfect with us. He's the reason I got these many yards. He's the reason why I'm this type of player. I'm not throwing the ball to myself.

“He's been doing a great job for us. Of course we want a better record, better outcome, but Kirk has been doing good. He's been doing a phenomenal job.”

Cousins was also asked about his future with the team, to where he kept it simple by noting that he aspires to stay on in Minnesota.

A pivotal offseason now awaits the Vikings, as they could see changes across the board on both sides of the ball.
