Stephen Curry was asked before Monday's home win against the Memphis Grizzlies if he planned to keep his soon-to-be 15,000-point ball, sitting only 10 points away from the milestone. The Golden State Warriors guard wouldn't have to wait long, getting to the exact mark late in the first quarter after canning a deep pull-up 3-pointer, reaching the milestone in true Curry fashion.

The 30-year-old guard reflected after reaching the 15,000-point mark and doing so in front of his home fans:

“It was a pretty cool moment, again just reflecting on the entire nine-and-a-half years and more to come,” said Curry after the game, per Peter Thompson of Sporting News. “Definitely appreciative of the opportunity, the milestone, hopefully a lot more to come.”

Curry admitted before the game that he did not keep his 10,000-point ball, but his father Dell, who only scored 12,670 points in his career did — which in retrospect only urged him to keep the basketball this time around, given its significance.

“Just a pretty humbling experience in terms of how long I've been here and all the success that we've had in recent years, and individual accolades and milestones come out of that,” said Curry.

“It's hard to really put it into perspective, we're still in the moment, still in the journey. Eventually I'll be able to sit down and reflect on what that means. It's beyond my wildest expectation.”

Life in the NBA is fragile, and while Curry is largely expected to reach the 20,000-point mark with ease, stranger things have happened with players, who either tail off too early or suffer an injury too tough to come back from.
