With the Miami Dolphins Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars now over, it's clear this franchise is in need of some help. There are some bright spots from this Dolphins-Jaguars game, however, as we'll be evaluating the Dolphins Week 6 takeaways.

This franchise needs to turn things around quickly if they hope to right the ship. One way to do that would be to run the ball more effectively. For whatever reason, Myles Gaskin isn't being utilized after proving to be a reliable running back last year.

Even so, there were a few bright spots from this tough loss. Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle proved to be reliable pass options throughout the entire game. Additionally, Tua Tagovailoa still has some kinks in his skill set, but he has the potential to be a solid franchise quarterback. His teammates must step up and help him. With that said, here are three Dolphins Week 6 takeaways from their matchup against the Jaguars.

Dolphins Week 6 Takeaways

3. The coaching staff hates Myles Gaskin for some reason

Five carries for nine yards was Myles Gaskin's stat line at the end of this contest. He was outplayed by Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed. Considering how efficient Gaskin was in 2020 when he was healthy, it's surprising to see him struggle so much right now.

It seems as though the coaching staff doesn't trust Gaskin to run the ball. With how things are going, his future isn't looking too bright in Miami. The Dolphins continue to rely on lesser running back options and that must change moving forward. We'll see what happens, but it's looking like Gaskin will continue to lose playing time as the year progresses.

2. Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle are the real deal

When it comes to the Dolphins' passing attack, they relied heavily on Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle throughout this matchup. The Jaguars had no answers for either of them, as Gesicki and Waddle combined for 18 receptions and 185 receiving yards. Additionally, Waddle finished the day with two touchdowns.

This is the type of production Miami needs from their offense. It helped that Jacksonville's pass defense is one of the worst in the league, but this is something Dolphins' fans should expect from the offense. Look for Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle to continue playing at a high level, as they give Miami the best chances of winning games.

1. Tua Tagovailoa looks good, but still needs help from his team

He's still a bit rocky, but Tua Tagovailoa looked solid for the most part. He ended the day with 329 passing yards and two touchdowns, which is a solid outing despite the team losing. If anything, this Week 6 matchup showed that Tagovailoa still needs time to develop, but has the potential to be a franchise quarterback.

For Tua to take the next step in his development, his teammates must improve around him. There are two areas the Dolphins should focus on that will massively help their young quarterback. First, the offensive line must step up and provide more efficient pass blocking. Second, the coaching staff has to call better run plays to create a more well-balanced offensive attack. If those two things come to fruition, Tagovailoa should be able to take that next step.
