Amid the swirl of trade rumors, Mike Trout continues to hold his own with the Los Angeles Angels. On Monday, the Angels played against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road at Chase Field. Trout hit a home run in the 5th inning in what was his first game at Chase Field in 11 years, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Furthermore, Trout hit his first-ever home run at Chase Field. It is now the 29th ballpark he has homered in. It was an opposite-field home run that came in the 5th inning off of right-hander Ryne Nelson, tying the game at two.
The last time Trout played at Chase Field was in 2015. Trout is batting .224 with 57 hits, 16 home runs, and 32 RBIs this season. Meanwhile, the Angels are 29-43 and are in last place in the American League West Division.
Trout has been one of MLB's foremost sluggers since 2011. In 2012, he was named the American League Rookie of the Year Award. He has won three American League MVP Awards in 2014, 2016, and 2019. Trout is an 11-time All-Star and has won eight Silver Slugger Awards.
Last September, Trout joined the 400 home run club. As of now, he has 419 career home runs and is on the path to reach 500. If/when he does, Trout will become the 29th player in MLB history to achieve such a feat. Among those players are Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr., Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and Frank Robinson.
The Angels are in the midst of a three-game series against the Diamondbacks.
