Connor Bedard played maybe his best game as a pro in the Chicago Blackhawks' 2-1 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday. He scored the two goals for the Blackhawks, with the overtime winner beating Connor Hellebuyck from the high slot. Bedard reacted to the overtime winner after the game.

“It's always nice to score goals,” Connor Bedard said, via Bruce Miles of NHL.com. “Especially the crowd tonight, it was awesome. So, it was obviously nice to get the winner in overtime, and like I said, it always feels good to score goals. I don't know if I thought about it overly, but it feels nice.”

The Blackhawks are still far from contention, and the expectation is that they will be one of the bottom teams in the league this season. However, Bedard is at the center of what Chicago is trying to build. He has performed well in his first year in the NHL so far, after coming in with a lot of hype and being the No. 1 pick in this summer's draft.

Bedard is up to 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 34 games played this season, according to NHL.com. That is a really good pace for a rookie, and the expectation is that he will continue to produce more throughout his career as he matures and gets used to the NHL level.

The Blackhawks might not be contenders right now, but the organization and fans hope that Wednesday night was a bit of a glimpse into what the future might hold.
