The Los Angeles Lakers are in a unique position. They are far from actually making the postseason this year. On the trade deadline, the Lakers traded for Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye. Although Thomas was the jewel in the trade, Frye is a valuable addition to a team that needed a veteran talent.

In fact, one of the many reasons why the Lakers haven't succeeded this year is because the team simply isn't experienced enough to win.

Frye was supposed to fix that problem, but he has been out, recovering from a surgery. He will also miss the next five games, as a result, per Bill Oram.

Channing Frye is not yet back with the Lakers after having an appendectomy last weekend. He will be out for at least the next five games, including the coming road trip which concludes March 3 in San Antonio.

Since the Lakers aren't pushing to make the postseason this year, they should be trying to forge some winning strategies for next season. The Lakers have been experiencing a lot of injuries in their season at this point.

Though, Frye won't make much of a difference even if he came back. Therefore, he should focus on resting up for his return down the road.

The Lakers might actually keep Channing Frye instead of trading him. For the Cavs, Frye was a solid addition when he was healthy. In the Lakers' fast-paced offensive system. It still remains to be seen, but hopefully, he can return for them sometime in the season after his surgery.

Frye was selected eighth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2005 NBA Draft. The former Arizona Wildcat power forward has appeared in 45 games (44 with the Cavs)  thus far this season, averaging meager numbers of 4.8 points, 2.4 rebounds. He is shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc.
