The Seattle Mariners take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Our MLB odds series has our Mariners Brewers prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Mariners Brewers.

The Seattle Mariners and Milwaukee Brewers are two teams which were met with a lot of skepticism entering this Major League Baseball season. The skepticism thrown toward the Mariners seemed a lot more reasonable and well-founded. For one thing, the Mariners are fighting the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers and the dynastic Houston Astros in the American League West. Those are two elite teams the Mariners have to deal with. On top of that, the Mariners parted with Eugenio Suarez, one of their better run-producing hitters, in the offseason. Suarez landed with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mariners don't have as much thunder in their batting order, and what we have seen from them in the first week of the season confirms the central fears about this team: It might not have enough offense to stay afloat over 162 regular-season games. In the first seven games of the season, the M's have scored more than four runs only once. That's alarming. The Cleveland Guardians decisively handled the Mariners in the last two games of this week's series in Seattle. The Mariners had a 3-4 homestand, not the way they hoped to start their campaign. The skepticism of the Mariners has been validated through one week.

The skepticism of the Brewers came primarily because of the loss of staff ace Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles. However, the Brewers don't compete in a cutthroat division, unlike the M's in the American League West. The National League Central is the weakest division in the National League by far, and it will probably be one of the two weakest divisions in baseball alongside the A.L. Central. This is a wide-open division. There is no clear-cut favorite. The Brewers have as good a chance of winning this division as anyone else. Given that Milwaukee won its first five games of the season, the Brew Crew has to be optimistic about what it can achieve in 2024.

Why The Mariners Could Cover The Spread

The Mariners are not an especially good team, but they just got whacked twice by the Guardians. The Mariners' starting pitching is too good to continue to get battered in consecutive games. This is what will keep Seattle in the playoff hunt. The M's have a lot of pitching depth, and so if they play two bad games, they'll come back and play better in the third one. The Brewers, in contrast, have played a lot of good games this season. They are due for a regression to the mean. They're not going to win five out of every six games they play on a regular basis.

Why The Brewers Could Cover The Spread

The Brewers have played a lot better than the Mariners through one week this season. Seattle's offense is noticeably weak, so the Brewers' pitching staff shoul be able to shut down the M's and take control of this game. Moreover, Milwaukee can lose by one run and still cover on the run line.

Final Mariners-Brewers Prediction & Pick

The Mariners have stumbled and the Brew Crew has thrived, but those two trends are not likely to be sustained. Take the Mariners here and go for the big plus money.

Final Mariners-Brewers Prediction & Pick: Mariners -1.5
