Last week, Mike Tyson announced he would be making his return to boxing to fight Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition bout in September.

As one might expect, this has generated quite a bit of buzz. Not only is Tyson one of the most popular fighters in history, but he is 54 years old. Jones is 51.

Tyson's old age doesn't make him any less terrifying, however. The legend owns a career record of 50-6 with 44 knockouts and is widely regarded as one of the hardest punchers ever.

So what does he think of a fictional boxing matchup with now-retired UFC star Conor McGregor? Let's just say Iron Mike does not think much of McGregor's chances:

“I'd kick his a– anyway. We'll play boxing rules,” Tyson said when asked about McGregor during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Monday (via Daily Mail).

Tyson made be 22 years McGregor's elder, but it's hard to argue with his statement.

While McGregor is a fantastic fighter in his own right, he is not a boxer, and his punching power is not even in the same stratosphere as Tyson's.

It should be noted, however, that McGregor does have one boxing bout under his belt. During the summer of 2017, McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. and actually put forth an impressive showing.

Tyson even acknowledged McGregor's valiant effort on his Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson podcast back in May:

“He never really had a boxing match in his life, right. He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing,” Tyson said. … “Did he do something? Did he accomplish something? People should look who he had the fight against and look what he did when he fought against him.”

Mike Tyson will battle Roy Jones Jr. — a legend in his own right — on Sept. 12.
