Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is making the most of the power he has a superstar in the NBA. Transforming into one of the most controversial figures in the association due to his jump to the Bay Area team, Durant has undergone constant criticism for his choices since his move.

Despite all the noise, Durant remains well aware of the power that NBA players now have, especially with their own destinies.

The reigning Finals MVP has been heavily scrutinized since his eyebrow-raising decision to join a team that won 73 games and a championship before his services. His decision was unlike any other we’ve seen in the history of the league, as the Warriors were genuine title favorites even without the small forward on their roster.

Be that as it may, Durant has since transformed into an unstoppable and efficient machine in the Warriors system. He has embraced the culture and unselfish nature of the team, and flourished under the mentorship and guidance of champion head coach Steve Kerr.

As scary as the Warriors already were, they became even more terrifying this off-season as they added All-Star Center DeMarcus Cousins to their talent laden roster. Cousins is coming off an achilles injury that could affect his production when he does return around December, but even so, the Warriors will in fact field five All-Stars at the same time eventually this season.

With that being said the head of the snake is still Durant and running partner Stephen Curry. The two have been nothing short of dominant since joining forces, and that looks set to continue as both remain very much in their prime.

As strong as they look right now, after this upcoming season some hard decisions may have to be made in regards to the roster. These decisions may spell the beginning of the end for the dynasty. If Cousins returns to his former self and raises his stock around the league, it will be impossible for the Warriors to pay and keep him. Emotional leader Draymond Green is also rumoured to want a max-type deal that wouldn’t be possible financially as currently built. Shooting guard Klay Thompson also enters the free agent market at the end of next season with several franchises already preparing their pitch.

Needless to say, it will take some outstanding roster management to keep this squad together. With Durant continuing to preach the power in which players now have, he’ll have to convince his teammates to reshape their contracts in the hopes of keeping the championship core intact.
