The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again part of the MLB All-Star conversation, though one of the more surprising ballot developments involves a player currently outside the majors.
Dodgers infielder Hyeseong Kim ranks fourth among National League second basemen in the latest All-Star fan voting update, released Monday afternoon. Kim has received 659,500 votes, trailing only Ozzie Albies, Bryson Stott, and Brice Turang at the position.
The placement is unusual because Kim has not appeared in a major league game since late May. The former KBO standout played 38 games for Los Angeles earlier this season before the club optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 29. By the time the latest voting totals came out, he had spent nearly a month with the Comets.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale shared the recent ballot returns on X, formerly Twitter, as the National League second base race drew added attention.

Kim’s standing is notable not only because of his current roster status, but also because of the players behind him. He sits ahead of established major leaguers such as Luis Arraez of the San Francisco Giants and Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The result reflects the reach of fan voting and the size of Kim’s support base. He remains a popular figure in South Korea after his successful run with the Kiwoom Heroes, and the Dodgers’ global following has only added to his visibility.
Whether the 27-year-old infielder advances deeper into the voting process remains uncertain, but his total has already become one of the more unexpected developments of the 2026 All-Star cycle. For now, a Triple-A player has turned a crowded National League second base race into one of baseball’s strangest fan-vote stories.
