The Los Angeles Dodgers will not have struggling star right fielder Kyle Tucker for the remainder of their series opener against the Minnesota Twins on Monday night at Target Field in Minnesota.
Tucker left the game in just the second inning of the contest with an apparent injury. He was replaced by Alex Call.
The Dodgers announced later that Tucker departed the game because of low back spasms.
He had a walk to his name before leaving the game.
The four-time All-Star was in clear pain while on the bases, as he struggled to stay on his feet. It was a concerning sight for the Dodgers and their fans, who now hope he did not suffer something serious enough to force him to miss games or prompt Los Angeles to move him to the injured list.
This is another setback for Kyle Tucker, who is already off to a rough start at the plate in his first year with the reigning World Series champions.
The 29-year-old Tucker entered the Twins series batting just .234/.331/.374 with six home runs and 40 RBIs to go along with six stolen baes and 39 walks across 74 games and 317 plate appearances in 2026. After posting a 143 OPS+ in 2025, his first and last year with the Chicago Cubs, Tucker started the week with a mere 98 OPS+.
That is not the type of return the Dodgers dreamed of from him after signing Tucker to a four-year, $240 million contract in January.
The Dodgers are looking to snap a two-game losing skid, having lost the final two games of their previous series against the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
