It looks like Toronto Raptors' interest in Kevin Durant is deeper than what was initially reported.

On Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN mentioned the Raptors as dark horse candidates to land Durant. He mentioned that the Toronto franchise is “lurking” and could make a push for a potential trade for the superstar.

However, according to Michael Grange of SportsNet, the Raptors also feel that no other team can beat them when it comes to the offer they can put forward to acquire KD.

“I can confirm that not only are the Raptors ‘lurking,’ but they also feel they can put together the best package of assets the Brooklyn Nets are likely to get,” Grange wrote.

The Raptors have plenty of assets, and they can certainly meet the Nets' asking price of a combination of superstar player, a young rising star and a slew of unprotected first round picks and pick swaps. In a recent trade proposal we made, we had Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr. and four first-rounders as a possible trade package for Kevin Durant.

Brooklyn could ask for more or perhaps for a player like Pascal Siakam or Fred VanVleet to be included in a potential deal for the Raptors, though it remains to be seen if Toronto will be welcome to such idea. After all, they would want to keep their core intact in a bid to contend for the title.

Grange also noted that there is a sense Durant is open to the idea of playing in Toronto, so it will be interesting to see if the franchise will take a swing as the superstar scorer.
