Former India captain Virat Kohli is known for his aggression, passion, and taking digs at his opponents on a cricket field. All over the world, fans know that Virat Kohli wears his emotions on his sleeves and is often seen mocking rival bowlers and batters, especially when they try to sledge him. On Saturday, the 33-year-old superstar was seen shutting down an Indian supporter who reportedly abused young pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti during India's ongoing four-day warm-up fixture against Leicestershire. The match between the Rohit Sharma-led side and Leicestershire started on June 23 at the Uptonsteel Cricket Ground situated on Grace Road in Leicester. In a video that has now gone viral on social media, an angry Virat Kohli can be spotted schooling a fan for his behavior towards Kamlesh Nagarkoti who was continuously pestering him for a photo. 22-year-old Kamlesh Nagarkoti isn't a part of India's squad for the warm-up game. Neither he has been chosen to represent the national outfit in the first Test against England next month. . But he's providing his services to Team India as a net bowler.

When Virat Kohli confronted the Indian fan, he told the former India skipper that he just wanted to click a picture with Kamlesh Nagarkoti. However, the 22-year-old didn't heed their request.

“Kabse bula rha hoon, photo he nahi khicha raha. Mai meri job choddh ke yaha aaya hu. Kam se kam photo to khichwana chahie. Nagarkoti ko bula raha hoon (Translation: “I’ve been continuously asking for a photo. I came here after taking the day off from my office. So, I’ve been calling Nagarkoti to click a photo with me at least)” the fan was heard saying in Hindi after Kohli pulled him up for his behavior towards the young pacer.

Virat Kohli responded: Match khelne aaya hai ya photo khichwane aaya hai (Translation: He is here to play the match, and not to click photos).”

Coming back to the match at Uptonsteel Cricket Ground, India were 264/7 at Tea on Day 2 and their overall lead had surged to 266 runs, thanks to an unbeaten fifty from Virat Kohli.

Other major contributors to the Indian score were openers Srikar Bharat and Shubhman Gill who made 43 and 38 respectively.

While all the Indian batters have had a decent outing in the match against Leicestershire, all eyes have remained on Virat Kohli due to his prolonged slump in form.

In recent days, Virat Kohli's form has been one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket as “King Kohli” faltered at every juncture in the last two and a half years.

Virat Kohli's last century in any format of the game came way back in November 2019 in a Test match against Bangladesh in Kolkata. Since then more than 100 games have passed and he's yet to add to his total of 70 centuries in the international arena.

In the Indian Premier League's (IPL) last edition, Virat Kohli once again disappointed his fans, as he could only make 341 runs with a poor average of 22.73 in 16 games. Kohli's run in the IPL was a horror show, to say the least as he registered three golden ducks in the same tournament for the first time in his career.

Fortunately for his legion of fans, Virat Kohli has looked in fine touch in England. In the warm-up match's first innings, Virat Kohli scored 33 off 69 balls, including five fours and a sensational hit for a six off Prasidh Krishna.

Unlike his knocks in the IPL, where he was seen fiddling around deliveries that were bowled well outside his off-stump, Virat Kohli's judgment around the area was excellent on Friday.

He played the waiting game well as he left the balls in the corridor but latched on to anything that was in his comfort zone. However, a good ball from Roman Walker trapped him in front as Virat Kohli made his walk back to the pavilion after he was adjudged LBW.

Before his twin knocks of authority in Leicestershire, Virat Kohli had to endure some harsh words from 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.

“I haven't played cricket as much as Virat Kohli. But sometimes you may not have played enough cricket but you can look to figure things out. Either that, or we just cannot criticize such great players. We have played cricket and we understand the game and after that, they have to improve their thought process, not ours. If you prove us wrong, we will like it. If you don't score runs, we feel there is some fault. We just see one thing and that's your performance. And if the performance is not there, don't expect people to stay quiet. Your bat and your performance should speak, nothing else,” Kapil Dev said on the YouTube channel Uncut.

“It pains me to see such a big player go through this a long gap (with regards to a century). He is like a hero to us. We never thought we would witness a player whom we can compare to Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag. But then they came, and forced us to compare and now since he hasn't for the last two years, it is bothering me and all of us,” Kapil Dev concluded.
