Tony Hawk’s net worth in 2021 is a whopping $140 million. This amount is of no surprise as he has been earning even during his high school days from various tournaments and sponsorship. This is according to numerous reputable outlets, including Celebrity Net Worth,

As a kid in San Diego, California, Hawk was described as “hyperactive”, and his mother said that he was so hard on himself as he expected to do many things. His parents had him psychologically evaluated at school, and the results claim that he was “gifted” as he tested with an IQ of 144.

During this time, Hawk started to skateboard and his parents supported this as it served as an outlet for his excessive energy. His skills developed and he became a professional skateboarder at the age of 14.

He earned a lot of money from skateboarding. Due to that, Hawk bought his first house during his senior year in high school.

On June 27, 1999, Hawk made history as he became the first skateboarder to land a “900”. The trick involves completing two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions on a skateboard.

“This is the best day of my life, I swear to God!” Hawk said through the public address system. “I couldn't have done it without you [fans].”

After his legendary feat, Hawk decided to retire from professional competition that same year. Although, he continued to perform at the annual X Games until 2003.

In 2011, at the age of 43, Tony Hawk landed another 900 during a demo in Linkoping, Sweden. Five years later, on June 27, 2016, he performed what he claimed to be his final 900.

After multiple attempts, the 48-year-old skateboarding legend pulled off a momentous 900.

In his professional skateboarding career, Hawk won 73 tournaments in an estimated 103 pro contests joined from 1983 to 2003.

In June 2009, former US president Barack Obama invited Hawk to the White House where he skated in the hallways of the Old Executive Building. This was the first time that someone has skateboarded on the White House grounds with permission from the officials.

In the same year, Hawk was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in their inaugural ceremony. Aside from his many tournament wins, Hawk also invented over 100 tricks and pioneered late-grab airs.

Aside from his professional skateboarding career, Tony Hawk made a lot of moves to expand his business. One of the most well known is his video game series.

In 1999, just after his retirement, Tony Hawk released the first of his many video game titles called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. The video game series turned out to be one of the best-selling and most popular video game franchises in the early 2000s.

All of the titles were published by Activision and was developed by Neversoft, Vicarious Visions, and Robomodo. Unfortunately, after the latter games received negative reviews, Activision allowed the licensing deal between them and Hawk to expire.

In December 2018, Hawk released a video game for iOS and Android called Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam. This was the first Tony Hawk game not published by Activision.

In 2020, Vicarious Visions released a remastered version of his first two Pro Skater games called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.

His video game venture has earned him at least $1.4 billion just from his licensing agreement with Activision. And during the early 2000s, he earned around $6 million annually from the first few games that they released.

Aside from the video game series, Hawk appeared in multiple TV shows and movies. He had multiple cameo appearances in movies like Police Academy 4 and XXX. He also appeared as himself, in voice and appearance, in shows like The Simpsons, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Jackass: The Movie, and Daddy’s Home, among others.

Tony Hawk participated in the 3rd season of The Masked Singer where he appeared as an elephant. Unfortunately, he was eliminated from the competition after one week.

In 2002, Hawk started a show tour called Boom Boom HuckJam where they featured freestyle motocross, skateboarding, and BMX. The show started in Las Vegas and travelled to 31 cities in the US and to Six Flags amusement parks.

In 2012, launched a YouTube channel called Ride Channel in which they have various shows focusing on different industries, not only skateboarding.

Tony Hawk launched the Tony Hawk Foundation in 2002 to help in building safe and legal skateparks in America. In 2015, the foundation received the Robert Wood Johnson Sports award for its innovative and influential approaches to using sports to build a culture of health in their communities.

In 2020, Hawk changed the name of the foundation to The Skatepark Project.

Hawk also founded the skateboard company called Birdhouse which sells multiple decks, apparel, and accessories related to the sport.
