Goran Dragic to miss 8th straight game, Tyler Johnson expected to return vs. Magic
The Miami Heat will be without starting point guard Goran Dragic for an eighth straight game, but will be expected to get back combo guard Tyler Johnson and swingman Derrick Jones Jr. for Tuesday’s game against the Orlando Magic, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Johnson missed the past six games with a strained right hamstring while Jones missed the last two with a strain of his own.
The Heat listed James Johnson and Rodney McGruder as questionable for tonight’s matchup, as the former deals with an ongoing illness and McGruder is still nursing an ankle sprain sustained in Sunday’s victory over the Utah Jazz.
Shooting guard Dion Waiters remains out after undergoing ankle surgery in January and there is a real possibility the Heat won’t rush him back if they get the majority of their core back on the court.
The Heat have sorely missed the presence of Dragic, but have managed to keep afloat with a 9-13 record after grabbing two important wins against Western Conference teams.
Their depth at the guard position has actually come in handy, as Dwyane Wade’s return has helped them keep a capable playmaker on the court at all times, as Josh Richardson takes on the bulk of the scoring load.
