Ismail Naurdiev has a rap video that went viral back in late 2020. The Austrian fighter released the video after joking around with some of his friends.

“It's called multi-talent,” Naurdiev said of his rapping abilities to Clutch Points. “It was just for fun. It was about started from the bottom now we are here. Only good things like I believe in myself. It was just for fun.”

Just for fun or not, the video was professionally produced and many people watched the fighter rap in Austrian. It started off as some friends messing around and it turned into a viral video.

“A good friend of mine is a rapper and he's a professional artist,” Naurdiev said. “He found that beat for me because I always liked music and sometimes when I was in school I would just rap a little bit and things like that. We were just joking in the studio, just chilling, and I rapped a couple of lines and he goes ‘hey it sounds good let's try it, why not?' and I said ‘ok let's do it, why not?' It was good for promotion so why not?”

The rapping actually got some major credit after professional rappers started sharing it. He had to remind people that he was a fighter first.

“There were a couple of guys, famous rappers who reposted my videos and stuff and also my friend who was working on some things but I said to him ‘right now it's just for fun so I'm focusing on fighting' the thing is just for fun, as a hobby.”

Ismail Naurdiev believes he is the best rapper in MMA. Better than Tyron Woodley and Brian Kelleher.

When the names were brought he instantly said he was ‘better' than them. There is only one way to settle it.

“Maybe one day I'm going to call them out for a rap battle.”

Keeping the MMA theme alive he believes they could step into the cage and battle it out.

“We step into the Octagon and then we start to battle.”

It would be difficult for Naurdiev to do it in English. His native Austrian though is a different story.

English is his second language and he's learning fast. Rapping in the language wouldn't be easy, that's why it's a good thing rap is universal.

“I think it will be tough,” Ismail Naurdiev laughs.
