Kentucky entered Sunday's SEC Championship against no. 1 ranked South Carolina as David up against Goliath. After all, the Gamecocks were considered to be the best team in women's college basketball. Meanwhile, the Wildcats were the seventh-best team in the SEC this season. But that's why they play the game. Kentucky pulled off a massive 64-62 upset, shocking the nation.

In doing so, Kentucky also made history.

Trailing 62-61, Wildcats' Dre'una Edwards sank a three-pointer with under five seconds remaining in the game. South Carolina's halfcourt buzzer-beater attempt missed and the madness ensued.

Kentucky became the first team in SEC history to defeat each of the top three seeds on the way to winning the tournament. The Wildcats previously beat no. 2 LSU and no. 3 Tennessee prior to Sunday. They also beat no. 10 Mississippi State in the opening round of the tournament.

Edwards led all scorers in the game with 27 points. She did so coming off the bench, playing 33 minutes.

Kentucky's season looked all but lost just over a month ago. The team was 9-11 overall and 2-8 in the SEC. Then things turned around. The Wildcats won 10 games in a row, culminating in Sunday's SEC championship victory.

Meanwhile, it was only the second loss of the season for South Carolina, who fell to 29-2. The Gamecocks will still likely earn a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. But this is Kentucky's night and the ladies will dance into the tournament.
