The 2016-17 season was, by all accounts, a disappointment for the Detroit Pistons. A major reason for their struggles was the ineffective play of point guard Reggie Jackson.
Jackson was dealing with a knee injury for most of the season, and according to Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press, the 6-foot-3 point guard feels like he let the team down with his limitations physically.
Article Continues Below“The pain I could tolerate,” Jackson said. “It was just the lack of explosion and the feeling you’re letting your teammates down out here — especially with the goals we had set last year.”
The Pistons’ locker room was hardly a harmonious place last season, particularly when they went on a slump upon Reggie Jackson’s return to the lineup. There was the infamous players-only meeting where his teammates called him out on his play.
When fully healthy, though, Jackson has shown that he’s capable of being a good starting point guard in this league. His ability to bounce back and make things up to his teammates this season will largely come down to how well his knees hold up.
