The Dallas Wings have dealt with multiple injury concerns in 2024. Satou Sabally is not expected to return until August, while Natasha Howard is out until July. Arike Ogunbowale is battling Achilles soreness, something that kept her out of Monday's game against the Minnesota Lynx. The Wings were ultimately defeated by the Lynx 90-78 and lost another important player in the defeat.

Maddy Siegrist, who is having a breakout season, suffered a broken finger during the Wings-Lynx game on Monday. A timeline has yet to be revealed for her return. The Wings announced that they signed Morgan Bertsch to a salary hardship contract following the Siegrist injury news.

Siegrist, 24, is establishing herself as one of the better players in the league in 2024. She has made the most of her second professional campaign.

Siegrist has averaged 14.6 points per game on 52.3 percent field goal shooting. She has also recorded 4.2 rebounds per outing. Siegrist's prowess as an emerging scorer has been crucial for Dallas, especially with all of the injuries. With Siegrist now out, the Wings will need someone else to step up and find more scoring consistency.

Siegrist previously addressed her '24 season.

“I think definitely as games have gone on I'm just getting more comfortable and more confident,” Siegrist said on Saturday. “Realizing that games like today… You're frustrated… But the next play mentality and the law of averages. I talk about that all the time. The goal is you want to shoot 50 percent whether you take one, two, 20 shots, whatever it is. Just kind of knowing that… Knowing that sometimes your team needs you to take more shots.”

It is an unfortunate injury to say the least. Siegrist was finding her rhythm and now the Wings, who have dropped eight games in a row, are left searching for answers.

Dallas currently holds a 3-10 record. In all reality, the Wings are not one of the worst teams in the league despite what their record indicates. But playing without stars such as Satou Sabally and Natasha Howard has played a big role in their struggles. Now with Ogunbowale and Siegrist sidelined, the Wings are doing everything they can to snap their losing streak.

Ogunbowale is listed as day-to-day. The hope is that she avoided a serious injury and can return soon. The Wings will continue to closely monitor her status. As aforementioned, it is uncertain as to when Siegrist will be able to return.

The Wings will play three more games on their current road trip. Dallas will travel to Chicago and play the Sky on Thursday before heading to Washington for two games against the Mystics on Saturday and Sunday. The Wings will then return home and host the Lynx on Thursday, June 27.

Dallas is hoping to break out of their slump and jump back into the win column at some point during that span. Doing so will not be easy given all of the injuries they are dealing with. The Mystics, however, are the only team in the WNBA with a worse record (2-12) than the Wings right now.

For now, Dallas will focus on defeating the Sky on Thursday. Chicago is just 4-9 in 2024 so upsetting the odds on the road will certainly be a possibility.
