The Boston Celtics have reportedly decided against signing veteran big man Greg Monroe to a deal for the remainder of the season. With the C's opting to go in another direction, Monroe will now be without a team after his 10-day contract with Boston expired on Tuesday night:

Monroe was a former seventh overall pick back in 2010 by the Detroit Pistons. He played his first five seasons with the Pistons before signing with the Milwaukee Bucks as a free agent in 2015.

In 2017, the Bucks traded the 6-foot-11 center to the Phoenix Suns, who eventually waived him just a couple of months later. The Celtics claimed Monroe off waivers and signed him for the rest of the season.

Last summer, the former Georgetown standout signed with the Toronto Raptors, where he would make 38 appearances before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets at the deadline. Monroe wasn't part of the Nets' long-term plans, so he was waived.

After being waived by Brooklyn, the Celtics made the call to sign Monroe up for a 10-day deal, which has now expired.

It has indeed been quite an eventful career for the 28-year-old Monroe, and at this point, he is likely hoping to receive a call from a potential contender looking to beef up their frontcourt. Given his recent decline, though, it would not be surprising if we don't see Greg Monroe back in the NBA this season.
