The Boston Celtics have been ensnared in trade rumors for the entire week after reports of an Anthony Davis trade request went viral. Danny Ainge, who has salivated over Davis for the better part of two seasons now, has reached out to his young players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to inform them of the nature of business.

Via Brian Robb of The Boston Sports Journal:

“They get it. They understand it,” said Ainge on Thursday's Toucher & Rich Show.

Brown and Tatum are two vital cogs to any trade that may happen between the Celtics and the New Orleans Pelicans, considered two young pieces that The Big Easy would be interested in when it's time to trade Davis.

The Celtics can't trade for Davis until July 1 as part of the “Rose Rule” provision, which prohibits a team from having two players signed to 30 percent of the cap, in this case Davis and Kyrie Irving, who are in such contracts.

It's likely either or both of Tatum and Brown could go when negotiations start, and Ainge is hoping the two players can be as clear-headed as possible going into the latter stretch of the regular season, despite the incessant rumors surrounding them.

Ainge is not a fan of players making trade requests, telling the show: “It's not what the league is about.” Yet he might be the biggest benefactor of such idea, as both Davis and Irving requested trades and could both wind up together wearing Boston green by next season.
