The Boston Celtics struck gold when they selected Jaylen Brown using the third pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He's become an integral part of the team, and the 22-year-old is expected to play a major role as the team prepares to make a deep run in the playoffs.

However, five years ago before he played for the University of California and entered the NBA, some people didn't believe that Brown would become a successful professional basketball player. In fact, one of his teachers even told him that he'd end up in jail.

Well, Brown just proved her wrong

The 22 year-old guard is averaging 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 45.4 percent from the field this season. He has also become one of the Celtics' most reliable defensive stoppers, and he's just three years into his NBA career.

Brown didn't let other people's perception of him affect his future, and in the end, it paid off.

It is well-documented that players tend to have some bad habits especially when they reach the NBA and are earning enough money. However, that doesn't seem to be the case for Brown who was even elected as the vice president  of the NBPA's executive committee.

Brown loves playing basketball, and his continued growth would surely make him a wanted commodity every time he hits the free agent market.

There are things one can't learn in school, and not all teachers have the confidence to trust and believe their students. Sometimes, it is up to the young guys to work hard and prove the adults wrong.

Jaylen Brown is a living proof of that, and he should serve as an inspiration to the youth.
