In what many deemed as a potential sweep, the Boston Celtics were able to scratch out a win in Game 3 against the Brooklyn Nets at the TD Garden on Friday night thanks to a 50 piece from Jayson Tatum. The Celtics star responded after back-to-back cold nights with a ridiculous performance as Boston now trails 2-1 to the star-studded Nets.

Tristan Thompson meanwhile also made a serious impact inside, notching 19 points and collecting 13 rebounds. His response to Tatum's big game was hilarious but also true at the same time, via Jared Weiss of The Athletic:

“When the lights are bright, the golden child has to come in and do what he has to do,” Thompson said.

Indeed he did. Tatum was in his bag for the Celtics, going 16 for 30 from the field and 5 for 11 from downtown. It was only a matter of time until he would eventually erupt and thankfully, it was at the best time possible.

Thompson was having his way with Brooklyn on the glass, helping the Celtics out-rebound the Nets 46-37. Overall, it was a really solid showing for a Boston team that looked absolutely dreadful in Games 1 and 2.

Despite James Harden's 41 points and Kevin Durant's 39, the C's contained Kyrie Irving to only 16 after the Celtics faithful welcomed him back to town with a flurry of boos throughout. Clearly, it threw him off.

Game 4 is on Sunday night as Boston looks to even things up at home.
