Miami Heat officials reportedly love All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook, who could be traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder soon, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Heat president Pat Riley already made one big splash this summer by acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Phiadelphia 76ers. The Thunder are widely expected to move Westbrook before the 2019-20 season starts after trading small forward Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.

If the Heat are able to land Westbrook, they would be contenders in the East next season. Westbrook and Butler are two of the best players in the league and their competitive spirits are out of this world. Riley and Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra would be thrilled to pair Russ with Jimmy in South Beach.

This past season for the Thunder, Westbrook averaged a triple-double for the third consecutive season. The former MVP put up 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line. Westbrook had surgery on his left hand to repair a torn ligament in a finger and also had a minor procedure on his surgically repaired right knee after OKC was bounced by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs in five games.
