The New York Knicks have been perhaps the most surprising team so far in the 2017-18 NBA season. At 7-6, the Knicks are doing much better than anyone could have expected given all the inauspicious activity over the offseason.

Their performance has raised questions as to how far along this team is in the rebuilding process. During an appearance on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio, budding superstar Kristaps Porzingis adamantly believes the Knicks are a playoff team right now:

“I believe that we are a playoff team.”

Although they recently lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers despite being up by 23 at one point, New York showed they are a team on the rise. This is certainly encouraging considering all the drama surrounding the Knicks organization coming into the year.

New York has undoubtedly been led by their star big man in Porzingis. Part of the reason for their solid start is because “The Unicron” made franchise history by scoring more points than any other Knick through the first 10 games of the season.

With the Eastern Conference now the weakest it has been in recent years, it is not far-fetched to think they could muscle out a spot. It goes without saying that Porzingis will likely serve as the all-terrain vehicle that is going to get them there.
