New York Knicks rookie Immanuel Quickley has been showing out with impressive performances in the early stages of his campaign in the 2020-21 season. His notable production on the floor eventually raised concerns as to why the former Kentucky standout isn't seeing himself as part of the team's starting lineup.

After their game against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night, head coach Tom Thibodeau addressed those concerns and stressed that finishing games are more important than being named as a starter.

“There’s always thought with everything. And because someone doesn’t start, that’s really not that important to me,” Thibodeau said via SNY TV. “It’s having groups that play well together and you can always finish with the people who you feel will always give you the best chance to win the game. So, whatever the game calls for you can try to take advantage of that.”

Nonetheless, New York's veteran tactician also bared that he is still exploring different combinations in order to assess the capabilities of his players and how well they mesh with each other on the floor.

“But we’re always looking at different lineups and what works best and how guys complement each other. So, he’s going to have a significant role. But we’re going to need everyone. So, tonight was his night and Sunday afternoon it could be somebody else’s.”

In their latest tilt against the Cavaliers, it was Quickley who shone the brightest among the Knicks players. He was able to knock crucial shots down the stretch and finished the game for the team en route to bag 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

The 102-81 victory eventually allowed the Knicks to get back in the win column and ultimately halt their three-game losing skid. Thibodeau's squad now improved to a 9-11 record for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Immanuel Quickley may not be starting for the Knicks as of the moment but he showed that he is more than capable of landing a significant role in the team even as a rookie in the league. The Knicks will definitely need Quickley's production as they hope to snag their second consecutive victory against the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 31.
