Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris will command some strong interest as a second-tier free agent, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Teams like the New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, L.A. Clippers and the Chicago Bulls are expected to pursue the heavily-coveted power forward.

The 29-year-old is arguably coming off his best all-around season, averaging 13.9 points, a career-high 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while being a top-notch option coming off the bench or starting alongside center Al Horford in the frontcourt.

Morris is reportedly open-minded about a potential return to the Celtics, and while there is mutual interest between the player and the franchise, the Celtics will have bigger priorities in mind like re-signing Kyrie Irving and potentially trading for Anthony Davis, which would change that narrative altogether.

The market is full of teams hoping to get their hands on a stretch-four — as much as Morris hates that term, with three California-based teams vying for his services, including both Los Angeles teams.

Morris is hitting his stride at the right time, coming into his own as a vital role player right before age 30, but his timing for free agency couldn't be worse.

The twin will be a heavily-coveted asset, but the money is unlikely to be huge for him, considering three of those five teams are bound to make major moves chasing big-time free agents, while the Kings and the Bulls are unlikely to dole out big numbers unless the market has run dry for them prior to acquiring him.
