Kyrie Irving is making his return to the TD Garden on Friday night as the Brooklyn Nets face the Boston Celtics in the preseason. Before the game on Friday, Irving was seen burning sage at TD Garden, causing fans of the Celtics to express their disdain for the All-Star point guard.

Of course, after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving pushed for a trade from the team that drafted him. Irving would then be dealt to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, giving the Duke product a chance to become the No. 1 option on a team.
He would proceed to spend two seasons in Boston, but Kyrie Irving never managed to reach the expectations that fans placed on him. Given that, ever since Irving chose to depart the Celtics after the 2018-2019 season, fans in Boston have made it clear how they feel about him.

Last season, in his first year with the Nets, Irving was scheduled to face the Celtics twice at TD Garden. However, Kyrie Irving was injured in both road games against Boston, preventing him from returning to his former team's arena.
Fans of the Celtics are known to be unforgiving to players who don't perform up to expectations, leading them to dislike Irving in recent seasons. Despite it being a preseason game, Kyrie Irving is trying to rid of the bad mojo that he felt he got while he was with the Celtics.
The presence of Kyrie Irving on the Nets, alongside Kevin Durant, makes Brooklyn easily one of the two or three most fascinating teams in the NBA this season. The Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks could also make that short list, maybe also the Phoenix Suns with Chris Paul.
