John Wall is the cornerstone of the Washington Wizards, much like Allen Iverson was to the Philadelphia 76ers, at least according to Jordan Crawford.
Crawford is a journeyman who has bounced around the league for much of his career. He played with Wall from 2010-2013, so he knows a little bit about the All-Star point guard. But a comparison to the Hall of Famer might be stretching it.
AI was a generational talent and made his name with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Answer was the guy who made everything go for the Sixers. He brought home the MVP in 2001 and led his Sixers to the NBA Finals before falling to Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Philly was overmatched in that series and without Iverson, they wouldn't have stood a chance.
Wall is a great player, no doubt. But he isn't on the same level as Iverson. Not to mention, the two are different types of players. Iverson was a scorer's scorer. He led the league in scoring four times and finished his career with a massive 26.7 points per game average.
Wall is more of a true point guard. He doesn't average as many points, but he has a career mark of 9.6 assists per game compared to Iverson's 6.2 per game. Wall's game is just as much about finding others as it is about scoring.
There's no doubt that Wall is a great player, but he has a long way to go before he can be compared to The Answer.
